Being Authentic

God has been teaching me how to be AUTHENTIC with my kids.

My children see Mommy and Daddy:
talk about Jesus...
sing worship songs...
learn about the bible...
go to church..
praise Him for His goodness..
pray before we eat...
pray before we sleep...
pray throughout the day...

AND

they also see Mommy and Daddy:
get upset and angry...
be short with them...
make mistakes..
break promises...
forget to pray...
fail to be patient...
and the list goes on....

We MUST make them confused... We MUST look like hypocrites...

UNLESS, we are completely HONEST and truly AUTHENTIC with them.

Because we ARE hypocrites, we DO makes mistakes, we ARE imperfect.
Only JESUS is perfect (Thank God!!).

God is teaching me to share with them my thought process, my shortcomings, lessons that God is teaching me..

I explain to them that:
God is teaching me how to be a better mommy...
I am learninghow to be patient, and kind, and forgiving...
that I am SORRY for breaking a promise,
for misunderstanding,
for yelling,
for being impatient..

I want my kids to know that Mommy IS NOT perfect.. and will NEVER be perfect.
I don't want them to think I am ever PRETENDING to be perfect.

I want them to SEE that God who is PERFECT helps their Mommy when she is weak...
He teaches her how to be content in all circumstances.
He forgives her when she makes bad choices.
He takes away all her worries and fears.
He guides her when she is lost.
He helps her to be humble and not proud.
He strengthens her relationship with their Daddy.

Most of all, I pray that my AUTHENTICITY will point them to GOD...
WHO LOVES MY CHILDREN MORE THAN I EVERY CAN.
