My Burden is Light

I had an "Aha!" moment the other night.

I feel like I have a deeper understanding of the verse from Mathew 11:30, "for my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

I was thinking of how blessed I am to have friends that are willing to help me when I'm going through hard times. Recently my family was very will...and I had friends who were praying for us, bringing us meals, offering to pick up some things from the store or do anything they can in order to lighten my (our) burden some way.

In similar ways, when God sees us going through turmoil, He is saying "LET ME DO THE WORK!". He wants us to have faith and know that He is moving even though we can not see... and is often times calling us to "be still and know that He is God" (Psalm 46:10). God wants us to cast all our cares, worries and burdens to Him.. and ALLOW Him to help us.. instead of trying to do things ourselves.

Confidence

When I was single... I felt like I could conquer the world..

When I met my husband, I was a confident young woman...

These days, I'm not even sure what confidence means...

Maybe because I have a hard time keeping my home clean..
Maybe because I feel like I can't even raise one child properly.
Maybe because my body doesn't look the same after having kids.
Or all the above.

I love this verse.. Philippians 4:8 says:
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things."

Even though I may not have the "confidence" I used to have...I I am so thankful that I know a God that gives me TRUE confidence... Not the confidence that changes with my mood or circumstance..but a confidence that is unwavering, unbreaking and everlasting.

Think about..

(Excerpt from CBS workbook- The Divided Kingdom and The Minor Prophets Vol.2)

Think about trusting God in more significant ways.

In a wry beatitude, the English poet Alexander Pope said, "Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed." Is it fear of being disappointed that keeps us from expecting more from God? We serve a God "who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine" (Ephesians 3:20). At the start of our day, before we ask for anything in prayer, if we first spend time reflecting on how great our God is, our prayers will be filled with an expectation that pleases Him: "In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation" (Pslam 5:3).
